Cost: the essentials, a checklist to keep and the sources.
Our prices
A Bwiti Life iboga retreat costs $5,800 to $13,000 per person, depending only on the length and the room. The seven-day retreat is $5,800 shared or $6,500 private. That works out at about $830 a day in a shared room and about $930 a day in a private room, whatever the length.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seven-day iboga retreat | $5,800 | $6,500 | about $830 / $930 | 2 |
| Ten-day iboga retreat | $8,300 | $9,300 | about $830 / $930 | 3 |
| Fourteen-day iboga retreat | $11,600 | $13,000 | about $830 / $930 | 3 or 4 |
Medical detox, only when our physician requires it: +$600 to $800 a day for three to five days (typically $1,800 to $4,000), on a ten- or fourteen-day program in a private room, set after screening and confirmed in writing before you pay. Prices are per person. A private room adds $700 to the seven-day retreat, $1,000 to the ten-day and $1,400 to the fourteen-day. Couples and friends who apply together take a private room each or a shared room together. Every arrival date allows all three lengths: see the dates. Questions about the price? The neurological program
Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and multiple sclerosis each need more than a standard retreat. On the neurological program, specialists in your condition join our physician before you travel, while you are with us and after you go home, and they work with your own neurologist. Ten or fourteen days, in a private room, so there is time to settle, adjust and be observed.
Neurological program · US dollars, per person
Everything in our standard program, plus the specialists and care listed here. The $500 deposit is refunded in full if our medical team cannot clear you.
With every neurological guest: our physician around the clock, a cardiologist for the ECG before and the heart monitoring during ceremonies, and our psychologist, Tania González.
Included
Everything from the moment you land in Cancún is included: medical screening and supervision, the ceremonies, your room, meals, airport transfers and three months of continuing care. There are no add-ons at the center and no surprise invoice.
US medical pre-screening and the medical interpretation of your blood work (CBC, CMP, serum magnesium, liver panel) and 12-lead ECG: our physician clears you, and a cardiologist reviews your ECG. On site: full intake, daily vitals, a physician 24/7, cardiac telemetry during ceremonies, and electrolyte and magnesium IVs when needed.
A discovery call with a Bwiti House graduate with more than fifteen years of experience, the traditional iboga ceremonies held by practitioners trained in Gabon at Bwiti House, the spiritual shower and other cleansing rituals as the practitioner sees fit, and guidance between ceremonies.
Pick-up and drop-off at Cancún airport, twenty minutes from the center near Cancún, the room you chose in the jungle, the pool, the gardens and the meditation spaces.
Daily meals prepared at the center by our cooks, water, fruit and light food on ceremony days.
One preparation call before you come, four integration calls over the three months after, and the medical team and psychologist reachable throughout.
No seasonal pricing and no negotiated rates. Only the program length, the room and, for Parkinson's, Alzheimer's or MS, the neurological program change the price.
Not included
Flights, travel insurance, the tests before travel and your personal expenses are not included in our price. Add them to the program price to get your real total, and ask any other provider the same question before you compare.
Your budget, beyond the program
Some health plans cover the blood panel and ECG at home: ask yours before you book the tests. Read how it works, from application to arrival.
The market
Publicly reported prices for ibogaine treatment in Mexico run from about $5,000 to $15,000 for most programs (Recovery.com). One Cancún provider, Beond, lists ten-day programs at $13,500 to $19,500 (beondibogaine.com, October 2026), and long detox stays are reported at up to $30,000 (thepricer.org, September 2026). Very few providers publish a full price list, so most figures below come from directories and from the providers' own cost pages. Each one is labeled with its source and the date it was checked.

Prices as of 2026. A directory or survey figure is not the provider's official quote, and prices change: confirm the current price and what it includes with the provider before you pay anything. In the United States, ibogaine is a Schedule I substance and is not offered as treatment outside research, which is why most people travel; see Is iboga legal?
Why prices differ
The price of ibogaine treatment follows medical staffing, length of stay and aftercare far more than the medicine itself. The largest part of our price pays for specific safety steps. A higher price does not guarantee safety anywhere, so ask what each dollar pays for.
Our physician reviews your blood panel and medication, and a cardiologist reviews your 12-lead ECG before you can book travel. Some applicants are declined, so that nobody flies to Mexico to be turned away at the door.
A physician on site for the whole retreat, cardiac telemetry during every ceremony, IV access placed before any dose, a hospital twenty minutes away. This is the largest single cost, and the one we will never cut. See our safety and medical protocol.
The ceremonies are held by practitioners trained in Gabon at Bwiti House, in the Missoko Bwiti tradition, with more than fifteen years of practice for our senior practitioner. They are present at every ceremony, every fire talk, every life review.
A small group means the practitioners know your story and the medical team knows your vitals. Our care ends three months after you fly home, after four integration calls and a review of your data against your baseline.
Estimated
A ten-day retreat (three ceremonies), by share of what it costs us to run. The split is similar for seven and fourteen days. Estimates rounded to the nearest point; they move a little from one retreat to the next.
A physician on site day and night, night nurses, cardiac telemetry, IV access, medicines, and the review of every file before arrival.
Practitioners trained in Gabon at Bwiti House, three ceremony nights, fire talks and life reviews, and root bark bought fairly from growing villages.
The center near Cancún: rooms, pool and gardens, upkeep, energy and cleaning for every night of the retreat.
Airport transfers, onboarding from first call to departure, administration and payment fees.
A cook and fresh meals for guests and team, special diets, and the light meals of the processing days.
Four integration calls on Zoom per guest, the psychologist's time and the review of your data against your baseline.
Civil liability and medical insurance for the center, the team and the ceremonies.

Who you are paying
A large part of the price is people. The ceremonies are held by three graduates of the Bwiti House Training Program in Gabon, founded by Moughenda Mikala, a tenth-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman. Moughenda teaches in Gabon and does not lead the retreats in Mexico; the practitioners he trained do, beside our physician and our psychologist. Nothing is outsourced.
Senior practitioner, Missoko Bwiti
One of the first graduates of the Bwiti House Training Program, trained in Gabon under Moughenda Mikala. More than fifteen years of practice and thousands of participants guided. He sets and paces every dose, holds the night with the music and guides each guest through the life review during the night.
Bwiti provider, former U.S. Navy SEAL
Ten years of service as a U.S. Navy SEAL, then the hard transition out of the military himself. Initiated into the Bwiti tradition in Gabon and a graduate of the Bwiti House Training Program. He leads the veterans’ retreats with Michael and holds ceremonies through the year. See Cory’s training in Gabon.
Lead provider, Bwiti House graduate
Her first ceremony ten years ago changed her life. She apprenticed beside experienced providers through hundreds of ceremonies, then graduated from the Bwiti House Iboga Provider Training in Gabon. A Certified Peer and Family Support Specialist in the United States for seven years, she leads the ceremony support on every retreat and is beside the mats all night.
General physician
Graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Durango, Mexico. She reviews every application, reads your ECG and blood panel before you fly and calls you with the result, whatever it is; a cardiologist also reviews your ECG. On site she runs the intake, the daily vitals and the cardiac protocol during every ceremony.
Psychologist
A psychologist in addiction and behavioral health, with close to a decade at Mexico’s National Institute of Psychiatry. She screens for what iboga cannot hold, prepares you for what it can, and carries the three months of integration calls after you fly home.
Breathwork, yoga, nutrition and integration fill the days between ceremonies, and one onboarding lead, Lisa, is your single contact from your first message to your last call. Meet the whole team of eight, or read about the Missoko Bwiti tradition they trained in.
Reliability
The price is not the main thing you are buying. Reliability is: real iboga from a known source, given by people trained in this one medicine, with your heart watched all night. When it comes to your health, that is what is worth paying for.
Some retreat centers run a menu: ayahuasca on Monday, mushrooms on Tuesday, 5-MeO-DMT on Wednesday, iboga on Saturday, all held by the same facilitator. Iboga is not interchangeable with the others. A ceremony lasts all night, the body works hard, and the medicine acts on the heart, so it needs its own training, its own dosing and its own medical protocol. Our practitioners work with one medicine, iboga, in the Missoko Bwiti tradition they trained in for years in Gabon. Read how an ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT protocol differs from a traditional iboga retreat.
A laboratory analysis of iboga products sold by treatment providers and online sellers found ibogaine levels from 0.6% to 11.2% in products sold as root bark, one sample with no iboga alkaloids at all, and unidentified substances in several others (Bouso et al., Archives of Clinical Psychiatry, 2020). Bark bought from an unverified seller can be too weak, many times stronger than the last batch, or not iboga at all, and nobody at the retreat can tell by looking. Our whole root bark comes from villages in Gabon that grow the plant, with fair agreements and resource sharing, and the practitioner gives it in steps, watching how each person responds. Read how our iboga is sourced.
Anyone can call themselves a shaman. Ask where your facilitator trained, with whom, for how long, and how many iboga ceremonies they have held. Ours are graduates of the Bwiti House Training Program in Gabon, founded by Moughenda Mikala, a tenth-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman; our senior practitioner has more than fifteen years of practice. And they never work alone: a physician is on site 24/7, with cardiac telemetry and IV access during every ceremony and a hospital twenty minutes away.
The tradition
Iboga is not only a molecule. In Gabon it is called the sacred wood, and in the Missoko Bwiti tradition it has been given in ceremony in the equatorial forest for generations; the tradition itself counts that history in millennia. A good iboga retreat respects how the ceremony is held there, not only the dose.
Our practitioners work with more than a hundred elements native to the Missoko Bwiti, learned in Gabon and woven into the healing: the fire talk that sets your intention, the sacred woods of the spiritual shower, the torch used for spiritual cleansing, the clearings and protections for the space and for each person, the prayers with which the medicine is prepared, and the ngombi harp and mongongo mouth bow that carry the night. Read about the Missoko Bwiti tradition.
Missoko Bwiti music is easy to find on YouTube. Knowing which song belongs to which moment is not. The tradition has songs for birth, for funerals, for every moment of a life, and the practitioner chooses them for what is happening to you in the night. Play a funeral song at the moment you finally meet your inner child, the moment that part of you has waited for so long, and the ceremony works against you. A garage, a speaker and a playlist in the wrong order is not an iboga ceremony.
Many guests describe the night as entering a spiritual realm. That is where a trained practitioner matters most. In most ceremonies the practitioner guides you through a spiritual journey: toward the memories and the inner child behind the patterns you came with, and toward what that younger part of you needed to hear. Someone who has only read about iboga, or who serves a different medicine every night, has not learned to do this.
During the night, in the spiritual realm, the practitioner guides you through a full life review: going back through your life, tracking down the moments and the traumas that still hold you back from your full potential, and giving each one its place. In the days after, our psychologist helps you turn it into a plan for home. See how a ceremony unfolds.
Do not choose your iboga retreat or ibogaine treatment on marketing or price alone. This decision can be a turning point in your life, so make the right choice. A cheap offer often turns out to be the most expensive one, because your mental health and your safety are the most precious things you have. Compare the tradition, the training, the medicine and the medical team first, then compare the price.
The Bwiti tradition says that you are your first child. If you will not do it for yourself, choose wisely for him or her.
Compared
At the serious end, an iboga retreat and an ibogaine clinic cost about the same. What differs is the medicine, the setting and what happens after. Bwiti Life is an iboga retreat, not a clinic: we give the whole root in ceremony, with medical safeguards around it.
| Traditional ceremony in Gabon | Bwiti Life iboga retreat, Mexico | Ibogaine clinic, Mexico | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price reported | $5,000 to $10,000, flights usually extra, an estimate (Bwiti House) | $5,800 to $13,000, all inclusive from Cancún | About $5,000 to $15,000 for most programs (Recovery.com) |
| Length | Varies (guide: 7 to 14 days minimum overall) | 7, 10 or 14 days | Usually 5 to 14 days |
| Medicine | Whole iboga root bark | Whole iboga root bark | Usually purified ibogaine HCl, a single molecule that may be made from Voacanga africana or synthesized in a laboratory; sometimes a total-alkaloid extract |
| Setting | The tradition in its home country | Missoko Bwiti ceremony, held by practitioners trained in Gabon at Bwiti House | A clinical room, usually without ceremony |
| Medical setup | Varies: ask | Physician clearance, cardiologist ECG review, physician on site 24/7, telemetry | Varies: ask who is in the room at night |
| Follow-up | Varies: ask | Three months, four integration calls, included | Varies, often optional |
Ibogaine is not necessarily iboga: it is often made from voacangine extracted from Voacanga africana, a different African tree, or produced by chemical synthesis. Either way it leaves behind the full spectrum of alkaloids in the root bark, and the tradition that, by its own account, has held iboga for millennia in the equatorial forest of Gabon. Which frame is right depends on what you are coming for. Read the full comparison in Iboga vs ibogaine, and how to tell an affordable ibogaine price from a cheap one.
Before you pay
A cheap ibogaine price, well under the publicly reported range, usually means something on this list is missing. Ask every provider these six questions, in writing, and compare the answers rather than the totals. Our own answer follows each one.
Ours: our physician clears you, and a cardiologist reviews your ECG, after your deposit and before the balance. Some applicants are declined, and their deposit is refunded in full.
Ours: yes, a physician is on site 24/7 for the whole retreat, with cardiac telemetry and IV access during every ceremony.
Ours: twenty minutes, with a rehearsed emergency plan.
Ours: a $500 deposit, refunded in full if our medical team cannot clear you.
Ours: whole iboga root bark from villages in Gabon that grow the plant, given in ceremony by practitioners trained in Gabon at Bwiti House. It is an iboga retreat, not a clinic.
Ours: three months of continuing care, with four integration calls, included in the price.
Honestly
It depends on who you are, and for some people it is not the right choice. Iboga and ibogaine are not approved treatments in the United States or Canada, the evidence is still early, and the medicine carries a real cardiac risk. It does not replace evidence-based care such as medication for opioid use disorder, therapy or psychiatric treatment, and no one can promise you a result.
You have tried conventional routes and want another one, you want the Missoko Bwiti tradition around the medicine, you can pass a full medical screening, and you can commit to three months of integration after you fly home. Bwiti Life: 7,677 people helped since 2012.
You have certain heart conditions, take medication that cannot be safely paused, have a history of psychosis or recent mania, or are looking for a guaranteed cure. Screening exists to find this out before you spend more than the deposit. Read ibogaine and the heart.
Payment
You pay in two steps: a $500 deposit after the discovery call, then the balance one month before arrival, once our medical team has cleared you. Insurance does not cover an iboga retreat, and we do not offer financing.
Your journey, step by step
8. Retreat and three monthsYour retreat, then four integration calls on Zoom over three months, included.
Nothing to pay to apply or for the discovery call. After the call, a USD 500 deposit holds your place and opens your health assessment. It is refunded in full if our medical team cannot clear you.
Payments are in US dollars, by the secure card link we send or by bank transfer. Bank charges and currency conversion are yours.
Once you are approved, the proforma invoice gives the balance, due one month before arrival (two weeks for bookings made less than a month ahead). If it has not arrived by then, the place may be released.
Apart from the deposit refunded when we cannot clear you, payments are final, as stated in our terms and conditions. Bookings are not transferable, except where we offer, at our discretion, a one-time move to a later date (see the terms). Please take out travel and cancellation insurance.
Questions about money
It can, but it is not the same ceremony. In the Missoko Bwiti tradition there are songs for birth, for funerals and for every moment of a life, and a trained practitioner chooses them for what is happening to you in the night. A playlist in the wrong order can put a funeral song on the moment you meet your inner child. That is why the training of the person holding the ceremony matters more than the music file.
Because the ceremony is more than the dose. In the Missoko Bwiti tradition of Gabon, iboga is given with the fire talk, the spiritual shower with sacred woods, the torch for spiritual cleansing, clearings and protections, sacred music through the night, and a practitioner who guides you on the spiritual journey, including toward your inner child. During the night, the practitioner also guides a full life review that helps you track down what still holds you back. Our practitioners trained for this in Gabon at Bwiti House, and work with more than a hundred elements of the tradition.
Usually because something is missing: medical screening, a physician on site through the night, a facilitator trained specifically in iboga, or medicine from a known source. Iboga bought online from unverified sellers varies widely; one laboratory analysis found ibogaine levels from 0.6% to 11.2% in products sold as root bark and one sample with no iboga alkaloids at all (Bouso et al., Archives of Clinical Psychiatry, 2020). Ask any provider where their iboga comes from, who trained the person giving it, and who watches your heart overnight.
Three graduates of the Bwiti House Training Program in Gabon, founded by Moughenda Mikala, a tenth-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman: Michael Cassidy Mboma, our senior practitioner with more than fifteen years of practice; Cory Poolman, a former U.S. Navy SEAL; and Jenny Kolb, our lead provider. Moughenda teaches in Gabon and does not lead the Mexico retreats. Our physician, Dr Paola Villarreal, and our psychologist, Tania, are part of every retreat.
In 2026, most ibogaine treatment programs in Mexico are publicly listed at roughly $5,000 to $15,000, according to Recovery.com, and long detox stays are reported up to $30,000 (thepricer.org). The price follows the length of stay, the medical staffing and the aftercare. A seven-day Bwiti Life iboga retreat costs $5,800 shared or $6,500 private, all inclusive from Cancún airport.
Most programs in Mexico are reported at $5,000 to $15,000 (Recovery.com). Published examples include $7,500 for five days and $8,500 for seven days at MindScape (mindscaperetreat.com, May 2026), and $13,500 to $19,500 for ten days at Beond in Cancún (beondibogaine.com, October 2026). At Bwiti Life, near Cancún, an iboga retreat costs $5,800 to $13,000 for seven to fourteen days, all inclusive. Confirm any price with the provider.
Iboga retreats in the Bwiti tradition are reported at about $5,000 to $10,000 in Gabon before flights, an estimate (Bwiti House 2026 guide), and ibogaine programs in Mexico at roughly $5,000 to $15,000 (Recovery.com). A Bwiti Life iboga retreat near Cancún costs $5,800 (shared room) or $6,500 (private room) for seven days, $8,300 or $9,300 for ten days, and $11,600 or $13,000 for fourteen days. That is about $830 a day shared and $930 a day private. The price includes screening, a physician on site 24/7, the ceremonies, room, meals, Cancún airport transfers and three months of continuing care.
Flights to Cancún, travel and cancellation insurance, the blood panel and 12-lead ECG before travel (done with your own doctor or lab), personal expenses and any medication you bring. Medical detox days, when our physician requires them, add $600 to $800 a day. Alumni calls after the three months of included care are $100 an hour.
Sometimes because something is missing: a physician on site all night, a cardiologist's review of the ECG before travel, cardiac monitoring during the ceremony, or care after you fly home. A lower price is not always a saving. Ask each provider who reviews your ECG, who is in the room at night and what happens to your deposit if you are not cleared.
No. No insurer we know of covers ibogaine treatment or an iboga retreat, and we accept no insurance. We know of no HSA administrator or VA program that reimburses it; ask yours before you assume either way. In the United States, ibogaine is a Schedule I substance and is not offered as treatment outside research. Some health plans cover the blood panel and ECG at home; ask yours. On request, we write a summary for your physician or therapist at home.
Yes, if our medical team cannot clear you. The USD 500 deposit is asked after the discovery call, holds your place and opens your health assessment. The balance is only asked once you are approved. If something you had not disclosed comes up after payment and makes the program unsafe, the exclusion is without refund, as the terms state.
We do not offer financing. You pay in two steps: the USD 500 deposit, then the balance one month before arrival (two weeks for bookings made less than a month ahead). If timing is a problem, say so on the discovery call; a later retreat date is often the answer.
No. Seven, ten and fourteen days all cost about $830 a day in a shared room and about $930 a day in a private room. Longer programs add ceremonies and processing days. There is no seasonal pricing and no negotiated rate; only the length and the room change the price.
Programs in Mexico with published prices run from five days to two weeks or more. The acute experience of a ceremony lasts twelve hours or more, sometimes up to twenty-four, followed by rest and processing days. Bwiti Life offers seven, ten or fourteen days, at about $830 a day in a shared room. Read iboga side effects and how long they last.
Not by much at the serious end. A traditional ceremony in Gabon is estimated at $5,000 to $10,000 before flights (Bwiti House), most ibogaine programs in Mexico are listed at about $5,000 to $15,000 (Recovery.com), and a Bwiti Life iboga retreat near Cancún costs $5,800 to $13,000, all inclusive from Cancún airport. What differs is the medicine, the setting and the care after.
It depends on who you are, and for some people it is not the right choice. Iboga and ibogaine are not approved treatments in the United States or Canada, the evidence is still early, and the medicine carries a real cardiac risk. It may be worth it if you have tried conventional routes, can pass a full medical screening and can commit to three months of integration.
The screening happens after your deposit and before you pay the balance or book flights; if you are not cleared, the deposit is refunded in full. It covers a medical and psychological questionnaire, a 12-lead ECG and a blood panel including the liver, done with your own doctor or lab, plus a review of your medication. Our physician clears you, and a cardiologist reviews your ECG. Some applicants are declined or postponed. Read our safety and medical protocol.
No honest provider can promise a success rate or a cure, and we do not. The research on iboga and ibogaine is still early. A higher price pays for screening, medical staff and aftercare, which reduce risk; it does not buy a result. What you do in the three months after the retreat matters as much as the ceremony.
You've carried this long enough. Start with a conversation with our medical team.
