From the United States and Canada
There is no legal ibogaine or iboga treatment in the United States, and none available in Canada. Searching for a center near you in California, Texas, New York, Florida or Ontario ends at the same place: a flight to Mexico. Most of our guests are American and Canadian. Here is how they come.
The legal picture
Ibogaine is a Schedule I substance under US federal law and iboga root bark falls under the same prohibition. In Canada ibogaine is on the Prescription Drug List, cannot be sold, and no product is approved. State initiatives in Texas and Kentucky fund research, not treatment. Attending a retreat in Mexico is not an offence in either country; bringing the medicine home is. Full detail in Is iboga legal?
Direct flights to Cancún from New York, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and more. Two to five hours. A passport is required; no visa for stays under 180 days.
Direct flights from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa, more in winter. Four to six hours. Passport required, no visa. Canadians make up a large share of our guests, especially on the January date.
Neither Medicare, private US insurance nor provincial Canadian plans cover the retreat. Buy travel insurance that covers medical care in Mexico and, separately, cancellation, since payments are final.
Planning
The ECG and the blood panel are done with your own doctor or a lab near you (Quest, Labcorp, LifeLabs and similar), before travel. Dr Villarreal reviews them and calls you.
Tapers for SSRIs and other medications are planned with your prescribing doctor. Bring every medication in its original box, with the prescription.
Seven to fourteen days at the center, plus a travel day each side, plus a light first week back. Tell work you are on a medical leave abroad; nothing more is needed.
You fly home with your notes, your data and the dates of your integration calls. Nothing of the medicine crosses the border. Your care continues from home for three months.

Questions from the US and Canada
Yes. US and Canadian law govern possession and supply at home. Taking part in a ceremony in Mexico, where the medicine is unregulated, is not an offence. Bringing any of it back is.
No registry, no report, no border question. Your records are medical records under our privacy policy.
No, the retreat is paid privately. Some veterans are funded by nonprofits; ask Lisa. A summary for your VA or provincial clinician is available on request, with your consent.
