The range
Across the clinics and retreats that publish prices, a five- to seven-day ibogaine detox in Mexico is typically listed between $7,000 and $12,000, ten- to fourteen-day programs between $10,000 and $18,000, and the most medicalized clinics, with hospital-grade facilities and physician-led teams, above $15,000. Iboga retreats in the Bwiti tradition, which are fewer, sit between $5,000 and $13,000 for seven to fourteen days. At the bottom of the market, under $5,000, you will find providers without a physician on site. Those prices are cheap for a reason.
What drives the price
- Medical staffing. A physician in the room for the whole stay is the largest cost of a serious program, and the first thing cut by a cheap one.
- Screening. Reviewing an ECG and a blood panel before travel takes physician time; the tests themselves are usually paid by you at home.
- Length of stay. Detox programs need stabilization days before and recovery days after the medicine. Psycho-spiritual programs need processing and integration days between ceremonies.
- Group size and room. Eight guests with private rooms costs more per person than twenty in shared dormitories.
- Aftercare. Integration calls, a psychologist, a medical follow-up. Often the difference between a price that includes three months and one that includes a ride to the airport.
- The medicine. Pharmaceutical-grade ibogaine with a certificate of analysis, or ethically sourced root bark, costs more than powder of unknown origin.
What is usually included, and what is not
Included in most listed prices: the stay, meals, the medicine, the medical supervision during treatment, airport transfers. Often not included: the ECG and laboratory tests before travel, flights, travel insurance, medications you bring, extra nights, and aftercare beyond a call or two. Always ask for the list in writing. The cheapest headline price is rarely the cheapest total.

Our programs are all inclusive from Cancún airport: $5,800 to $13,000 for seven to fourteen days in the psycho-spiritual programs depending on length and room, and, when medical detox is required, a supplement of $600 to $800 per day for three to five days, typically $1,800 to $4,000, decided case by case, private room. That covers the US medical pre-screening, the interpretation of your ECG and blood work, a physician on site 24/7, the traditional Bwiti ceremonies, your room, meals, airport transfers, and three months of continuing care with four integration calls. Iboga retreat or ibogaine clinic: is one cheaper?
Not by much, at the serious end. What differs is what you get for the money: a clinical flood dose in a medical room, or the whole root given in ceremony by practitioners trained in Gabon, with the same medical safeguards. If a precisely measured flood dose for an acute opioid detox is the priority, a clinic may be the right frame. How to tell a fair price from a cheap one
Ask three questions. Is there a physician in the room all night, by name? Do they require an ECG and bloodwork before you can book? What happens in the three months after? A center that answers all three clearly is charging for something real. A center that answers none is charging less because it is providing less, and the thing it is not providing is the thing that keeps you alive.
Insurance, financing, refunds
No insurer covers ibogaine or iboga treatment; it is paid privately everywhere. Some centers offer financing through third parties; we do not. Refund policies vary and are worth reading before paying: ours is that all payments are final, which is why we ask for payment only after medical clearance and recommend cancellation insurance. Questions people ask
Why is ibogaine treatment so expensive?
Because doing it safely means a physician present for days, screening before, and follow-up after, for a small number of people at a time. The medicine itself is a minor part of the cost.
Is there affordable ibogaine treatment in Mexico?
There are cheap providers. Affordable is a different question: a $4,000 program without a physician in the room is not affordable if something goes wrong. Look for the lowest price that still includes screening, medical staff on site and aftercare.
Can I pay in installments or with insurance?
Insurance no, anywhere. Installments depend on the center; we ask for full payment after medical clearance.
Does the price depend on the substance I am detoxing from?
Usually on the length the detox requires. Opioid detoxes, and especially long-acting opioids like methadone, need more stabilization days than alcohol or stimulants, which is why two-week programs exist.
